💬 Final Verdict — Score: 9.1/10

The MBNA Rewards World Elite Mastercard® delivers exceptional value for cardholders who spend heavily in daily essentials and want flexible travel rewards. Its 5× earn rate, robust insurance protection, and flexibility to redeem at a full 1¢ per point on travel make it one of the top general-purpose reward cards in Canada.

That said, its high income requirement and reduced value for non-travel redemptions may exclude some users. It’s not ideal if you carry balances or redeem points only for gift cards or statement credits. But for disciplined spenders with travel goals, the MBNA World Elite is a powerhouse—especially when you hit the annual spending caps in bonus categories and make use of the Birthday Bonus and insurance suite.

If you’re ready to travel or want to start building a flexible, high-reward points strategy, this card is worth serious consideration.

Really solid card if you spend a lot on groceries, dining, or streaming—getting 5x points there is awesome. The welcome bonus is big, and I like the little birthday perk too. Insurance coverage is great for travel. Only catch is the high income requirement and no first-year fee waiver.

+ PROS: 5x points on food, digital, utilities. And good bonus points.
    - CONS: High income reqs

  2. Hani Sal

Solid rewards card if you spend a lot on groceries, dining, media, and utilities. The 5× earn rate on those is sweet, and the 10% birthday bonus is a cool perk. I liked the welcome bonus too—easy to hit with e-statements.

Perks like price protection and mobile/travel insurance add value, and you can redeem points in lots of ways. But the $120 fee and high income requirement make it less accessible. No gas rewards or trip cancellation coverage is a downside for travelers.
